Gigappy Presents: Live Music with Cloudy Galvez, Jewelia and Stephen Springall on Friday 8th March 2019 at Music & Beans Camden.
Get ready for a wonderful mix of musicians bringing their unique sound to Camden Town!
Cloudy is an up-and-coming London artist pioneering the introduction of a new sound: progressive soul with a touch of pop. Whether accompanied by drums and bass, or solo, Cloudy delivers one thing that other artists don't: the non-stop set. The songs flow from one to the other through beautiful improvised transitional sections, allowing the music to breathe and do the talking for itself. It truly is a captivating continuous mix of original material, packed with push-and-pull, catchy hooks and beautiful melodies inspired by her Colombian heritage, designed to catch your attention and stay in your head for days.
Cloudy's music is influenced by Estas Tonne, Tom Misch, The Skints and KT Tunstall, and has received attention from BBC Introducing London, All Star FM, The Huffington Post, GIGsoup, Music of the Future, Pure Magazine and Vents Magazine so far. She has performed nationwide this summer supporting Dodgy, The Hoosiers and Toploader during the Foodies Festival national tour. However, she is also active in her local community, performing at numerous London venues including Omeara, Hoxton Square Bar and Kitchen, Notting Hill Arts Club and The Garage, and it was at one of these shows that she was scouted for a songwriting scholarship at Berklee College of Music. She is now signed with Talent Banq, a brand new live agency with an ethos she shares: music is about collaboration, not competition. Cloudy is proudly endorsed by G7th Capos.
Jewelia is the project of London-based singer-songwriter and producer Iulia Tache. Her music is a mixture of alt pop and new age, centred around emotional vocals and poignant lyrics.
In 2014 Jewelia released a debut EP entitled 'Monsters' followed by a second, self-produced EP, 'Beyond The Glass Sky’. In 2015, “Aquarium” was selected as the official soundtrack of "13 Shades of Romanian", a crowdfunded award-winning mini-series that was aired on several Romanian TV channels and was screened at film festivals in London, Los Angeles Cinefest, Rome Film Festival, TMMF, and others. The soundtrack was also aired on major Romanian stations (National FM and Europa FM), and also on Eagle Radio (Surrey & Hampshire).
Jewelia has been gathering a small, but devoted UK fan base from playing numerous gigs (both acoustic and with a band) around London, Surrey, Essex and Hertfordshire, but also online, through regular YouTube releases (over 820,000 views on YouTube channel).
Her debut album "City of My Mind" was crowdfunded on Kickstarter in 2017 and was released in December 2018.
Stephen Springall’s music is an engaging amalgamation of genres drawing influence from the Rock n Roll attitude of his upbringing and the love he discovered for the art of Folk storytelling while growing up in Ireland. With a lyrical pallet coloured by artists such as Damien Rice, Glen Hansard, Jack Johnson, John Martyn and musical knowledge informed by Stevie Wonder, Eric Clapton, Sting and Paul Simon. His music is both thought provoking and deeply moving.
Stephen Springall can be described as a born wanderer. Originally from the sprawling suburban town of Reading, England he lived in several different cities and two countries before he was four years old. Eventually settling in Cork, Ireland Stephen spent most of his adolescence ambling through the wild Irish countryside or sneaking out to the city to play gigs with his friends. From this diverse and ever changing childhood Stephen has developed an uncanny ability to adapt and flourish in almost any social setting. This mixed with his genuine curiosity and love for people as well as human behaviour has led to music that is informed from all walks of life, always exploring different perspectives.
This love for adventure initially lead Stephen down the road of being a session guitar player. He has been performing live since the age of 15 and has played with a multitude of different acts. He has been on tour several times with Irish Folk Artists such as Karrie, Jennifer Lyons & Mide Houlihan where he supported Artists like Mick Flannery, Mary Coughlan and Pauline Scanlon.
In 2018 Stephen was offered a scholarship to study Contemporary Music at London College of Creative Media. He is now living in London to further hone his skills as a guitar player and to start introducing his own music to the world.
